胚胎冻存是最早的和最安全的保存实验动物品系的方法。胚胎的来源，可以通过超排卵后合笼获得，也可以通过体外受精（IVF）的方式获得。当实验需要时，我们将冻存的胚胎或者精子进行复苏，将得到的胚胎移植到SPF级假孕的小鼠受体中，得到SPF级的小鼠后代。
