1935年，美国NIH在SWISS小鼠中建立了作为一般用途的杂交系小鼠在。1966 年在接种白日咳疫苗后，其中一系HSFS/N对组胺(Histamine)敏感。70 年代初，在HSFS/N 系第8代发现部分小鼠携带Fv1b基因对B strain Friend 白血病毒敏感，称FVB。生长发育强劲，活跃，生殖能力强。对抗原刺激容易产生 IgE，很容易引发类似哮喘的呼吸道反应。对胰岛素诱导的低血糖反应性高。Pde6brd1等位基因是纯合子，导致较早发生视网膜退化。应激时易发生高热。呼吸道容易发生哮喘样改变。容易焦虑。化学诱导的结肠炎容易发展为直肠癌。化学诱导不容易发生乳头状瘤（papillomas），但是，一旦发生，容易恶化为恶心肿瘤。
